TASCA MENDES
Who: Café Tasca Mendes
When: 2022 (September to December)
Work:
From September to December, I worked as a freelance consultant for Café Tasca Mendes, where I was responsible for rebranding and developing the café’s communication strategy. I redesigned the logo, created all the menus for the café and restaurant, and built the entire digital presence and strategy across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, The Fork, and TripAdvisor.
I also developed new sales strategies, including meal packs for families and couples staying in local accommodations, as well as special celebratory hampers for festive occasions. In addition, I managed the café’s social media presence throughout this period, producing and publishing all content to strengthen engagement and visibility.
This project combined branding, digital marketing, content creation, and sales strategy, contributing to a stronger identity, broader reach, and innovative ways of connecting with customers.
Project Description – “Café Tasca Mendes”
Café Tasca Mendes was a café and traditional restaurant located in Carvalho, Celorico de Basto, operating until the summer of 2023. Known for its warm and authentic atmosphere, the space combined a local café service for the community with a restaurant focused on traditional Portuguese cuisine.
Housed in a venue that had been a café and “tasca” since the 1960s, Café Tasca Mendes reopened with a renewed image and new name, while preserving its traditional décor and cultural heritage. Beyond daily meals and weekly dinners by reservation, the restaurant also hosted special events such as baptisms and weddings, becoming a gathering place for both locals and visitors.
Café Tasca Mendes stood out for its blend of tradition, community spirit, and Portuguese gastronomy, offering an authentic experience deeply rooted in local culture.
